Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Deliver trades and technical training for internal and external customers using adult learning principles and vocational training techniques consistent with corporate goals, safety requirements, protection of the environment, legal requirements, system reliability, and the human and financial resource needs of ENMAX, its partners and customers.
  • Communicate and liaise regularly Managers and Coordinators, Safety Specialists, Technical Support Groups and Field Trainers from other Departments to gain their trust, input and support for program and program changes.
  • While in training, supervise learners and initiate discipline process when required.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive training environment, removing barriers to effective performance by fostering mutual respect, trust and open communication.
  • Responsible for recording, monitoring and evaluating each learner's progress.
  • Participate in Facilities Management for the Department.
  • Perform training related administrative duties such as preparing reports and expense accounts; monitoring inventories and ordering stock, preparing and issuing training manuals etc.
  • Perform needs/task/gap analysis, create comprehensive training plans, design, develop, evaluate and revise complete instructional material in consideration of operational issues, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Optimize program by evaluating the program's effectiveness and recommend or implement changes in sequence, methods, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Design innovative training methods, procedures and aids necessary for effective training, (e.g. instructional videos, computer-based training, training props).
  • Create evaluation systems and audits to measure worker skill and knowledge levels to ensure customer standards are achieved.
  • Maintain/enhance personal trade skills and knowledge to follow safety rules; develop/practice modern work methods; apply current construction standards etc.
  • Communicate with external training providers to ensure curriculum consistency and up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • May be required to travel outside of Calgary to deliver training, attend workshops and conferences.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Must meet ENMAX Corporation’s requirements as to qualifications and/or must be qualified under the Alberta Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act with respect to the related electrical trade
  • Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWPs)
  • Hold an Alberta recognized certificate as a Power Line Technician
  • Experience in the instruction of adult learners is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze jobs to determine skill and knowledge required for effective performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and evaluate new tools, equipment and training material.
  • Demonstrated application of corporate policies and procedures, collective agreements and safety rules.
  • Must be familiar with current work practices and safety rules.
  • Able to demonstrate correct job procedures and use of tools, provide direct supervision and emergency assistance.
  • Must have a valid Province of Alberta driver’s license, upgrade to Class 3 license with air brake endorsement as required
  • Must be willing to upgrade qualifications as required

**Salary:**$73.67 per hour (2026 Collective Agreement rates)

**Shift:**Regular Days: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm  (Shift may be changed to meet operational needs)
